Artist Statement

How did you come up with something completely original?

I started with brainstorming a complete set of new ideas for me to choose from, and working out and refining the list until i settled on a few. This was the idea that came to me the easiest because there was not a lot of waiting around for external factors taking place and was something that I could do at home, while still challenging myself to be interesting and particular with the photograph.Brainstorming and refining and finally selecting done, then came opening up to experimentation with that idea as a loose guideline. I felt I wanted to photograph my mother in parts so i could allude to the greater whole, i felt the black and white colors and the sharp visual look the photos had posed an objectivity that I was aiming for. 

I think the photos had to be original as well as honest, and raw, and brutal. And I wanted to experiment with a surrealist image as well. I also wanted to allude, but not explicitly say, because I felt the images are more beautiful when left open ended. I do feel it came from an honest place, however.
